The effects of plastic waste constantly affect the beauty and sustainability of mother earth. This can mainly be identified in the significant amounts of plastic waste dumped in the ocean, which can be found drifting ashore around coastal areas.
As a new initiative towards protecting and preserving the environment, a beach cleanup project to clear plastic wastage was carried out on Sunday the 22nd of October, down the Pannai coastal area, located approximately 1 km away from Jaffna town.
This project, organized by the Young Adults of the northern region, with the support of 32 Sai volunteers, helped clear out debris spread out over 1 km of this coastal area.
